California Heartland Reds
REDS originated in 1995 as "a wine for the People". What the world needs is a complex and affordable wine that can be enjoyed daily with a range of foods from burgers to robust pastas. Enter Reds We make Reds from spicy and earthy 116 year old carignane (30%), hearty and fruity 70 year old zinfandel (60%), and robust and deeply colored petite syrah. About 20,000 cases.
!ZAZIN - In 1999 we discovered a 106 year old zinfandel vineyard in the gravelly soils of Lodi, which yielded such intense wine in the fermenter that we aged a portion of it separately in new French oak barrels, leaving the remainder to bolster the Reds blend. We were so delighted with the dark, exotic, and spicy result that each year since we have made some 2000 cases.

2008 REDS, Lodi |
| REDS 2008 gets us back to the traditional style of REDS. Where 2007 was very warm and punctuated by several heat spikes, the 2008 season was moderate and even. Both wines reflected their particular growing conditions. But where the 2007 verged on the extravagant, the 2008 is considerably more restrained and interesting. More Details |
