Patrick Campbell was first introduced to grape growing on Sonoma Mountain
when he was 25 years old and joined a Zen Buddhist colony. The colony had a
small vineyard, which he was assigned to care for. After discovering
viticulture was his calling, he purchased the nearby Laurel Glen Vineyard
property in 1977. In 1981 he produced the first vintage of Laurel Glen
Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. It was quickly recognized as one of
California's great Cabernets. In 2011, Campbell sold Laurel Glen
Vineyard but remains as a consultant.
